Sunday 14th September 2025
This Sunday is Education Sunday—a fine occasion for dusting off our sharpened pencils and asking what sort of curriculum God Himself sets before His children. Spoiler: it’s not algebra, though it may include the geometry of grace and the arithmetic of forgiveness! Revd. Mark will be opening up Luke 15:1–10, those well-worn but never-exhausted parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin, and asking: what is God’s curriculum for us, and how do we learn it?
We’ll also be celebrating all those who teach, encourage, and form others—whether in schools, at home, or in unexpected corners of life. We are delighted to welcome Louisa Gurney, Head of Woodley Church of England School, and to hear about the Church of England’s very first Home-Ed Hub, being pioneered right here at St. John’s! That’s history in the making—proof that education is not confined to classrooms but stretches into the whole of life and faith.
So come along, bring your friends and families, and let us rejoice that God Himself is both Teacher and Father, whose lessons are always rooted in love and whose homework, happily, is simply to love Him back.
