Sunday 18th January 2026
This Sunday we come to the Second Sunday of Epiphany, a season about noticing who Jesus is and how God’s light keeps spreading wider than we expect.
Our readings are wonderfully down-to-earth. In Isaiah, God speaks of a calling that begins before birth and reaches far beyond familiar boundaries. In John’s Gospel, people begin to follow Jesus in very ordinary ways: someone points him out, two people follow, a brother brings a brother. Nothing dramatic—just small steps that turn out to matter.
One of the things Epiphany reminds us is that there is no single “right” way to come to faith. Some people search. Some are invited. Some are simply found. All are welcome.
This makes it a particularly good Sunday to bring a friend or family member—especially someone who might be curious, unsure, or hasn’t been to church in a long time. You don’t need to have everything worked out. You just need to turn up. Come as you are, and come and see.
With every blessing, Mark
