Sunday 8th February 2026
As we approach Lent, the Church gently invites us to notice how we are carrying life. The Second Sunday before Lent is not yet a call to self-denial, but a moment of grace — a chance to pause and attend to what weighs on us, and what does not.
Our Gospel reading this week brings Jesus into the ordinary pressures of daily living: food, clothing, tomorrow’s worries, today’s demands. He does not dismiss these concerns, but he does question how much we are meant to carry alone — and how much might be entrusted to God instead.
You would be very welcome to join us this Sunday at St John’s as we gather for worship, hear Scripture together, and share Communion — that quiet reminder that we are given what we need, one day at a time. Do bring friends and family, especially those who arrive feeling a little tired of holding everything together.
Grace and peace, Mark
