Sunday 15th February 2028
The Sunday before Lent places us, quite deliberately, on a mountain. Our readings speak of cloud, glory, and God drawing near in ways that are not easily contained or explained. It is a moment of revelation — but also of waiting, listening, and holy uncertainty.
Before Lent calls us down into the disciplines of the valley, this Sunday invites us to linger briefly in the mystery of God’s presence: not everything made clear, not everything resolved, but everything held within God’s purposes. Scripture reminds us that faith is not only about understanding, but about learning when to listen, when to wait, and when to trust.
You would be very welcome to join us at St John’s this Sunday as we worship together on the threshold of Lent. Do bring friends and family — especially those who sense that God may be nearer than they can yet fully see.
Grace and peace,
