Sunday 3rd March 2026

For the 2nd Sunday of Lent, the Church feels a bit like a traveller who suddenly notices the weight of their luggage. Lent is when we ask what we’ve been carrying—habits, pride, worry, old regrets—and whether any of it is helping us get home.

This Sunday we meet Nicodemus: respectable, educated, religiously “sorted”… and yet Jesus doesn’t flatter his credentials. He simply says: “No one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” Not upgraded. Not tidied up. Born.

So please bring a friend this Sunday—especially someone who thinks church is only for the “insiders.” Nicodemus reminds us that questions are welcome, newcomers are welcome, and in God’s kingdom nobody gets in by credentials. We come by grace, and we begin again by the Spirit.

Every blessing, Mark
