St Mary’s church is set in a small village parish with a strong farming emphasis. Our church is keen to embrace new ideas that will bring more of the village to pray and give thanks. The majority of those who come to church are from the immediate village and of an older age group. We do have a growing group of young families who come to church and we hold regular family services throughout the year. We host a popular bluebell walk in the Spring for the Benefice children and hold two fundraising events annually: the Hales Fete and the Hales Fun Ride. Although our average congregation is small, we love our singing and make up for size with our voices! We join together for our Evensong Service on the first Sunday of the month.

This is compulsory training for all PCC Members, Pastoral Workers and Children's Workers. This is one of 2 sessions that will be hosted at St Peter's Church SOT and either can be attended. There is also the option to complete this training online, follow the link on the Diocese Website
Christingle is a joyful celebration that brings families and communities together to share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope.
All our wedding couples that are marrying in 2026 in the benefice are invited to join us to be given all the relevant information needed. It also gives couples a chance to meet others that are getting married this year and have time to discuss their plans and get ideas and advice from each other.
On the 5th Sunday of the month we invite all our Benefice to join together in one church for a service usually with a Guest Speaker and Communion.
