The Latest News from our Parish Council
Sandon and Burston Parish Council have been asked to publish the new, reduced opening times for the Post Office in Sandon at the Parish Rooms which will be 10am – noon every Tuesday. If this service is to continue the number of customers must increase.
Anyone walking from Burston to Sandon will have noticed the massive improvements to the footpath which has been cleared of all of the undergrowth. Thank you to all concerned.
The Trent Bridge, Burston.
As everyone knows who walks Two Saints Way between Burston and Aston the river bridge has been unusable since Autumn 2023.
There has recently been an update on the progress to restore it by the County Council. The local county councilor has advised Sandon and Burston Parish Council that teams will be onsite in May to deal with the bridge. This will include an ecology assessment, then the removal of the structure. The structure itself will be assessed for suitability for repair. If it is not repairable, there is budget to replace it.
When the structure has been removed timescales will be discussed with the Engineers regarding timescales for re-installation.
As the Parish Council receives any updates these will be posted on the website (sandonandburstonpc.org.uk) and in the published minutes.
A grant was given to both villages for the Christmas lighting which added festive cheer. This will happen again next year.
It is the Parish Council’s intention to introduce some Speed Indicator Devices on the A51, which are hoped will help address the number one complaint in the parish of speeding traffic on A51.
