We had a great time at our Spring Fayre last Saturday (17th May). All the stalls were busy as happy customers hunted for bargains and were not disappointed! Prizes were won and faces painted, cakes were munched and tea slurped. Local scouts demonstrated their skills and helped clear up. At the end we ran out to see the Lancaster bomber fly over Wednesfield. So sorry we had a clash of events, but the videos on Facebook made up for it a bit.Grateful thanks go to all involved in setting it up. There are too many to name individually, but a special thanks goes to Jan Postle who supervised the event. It was a wonderful community event and a funding boost for the church.
To celebrate VE day a party was held at the St Thomas Centre organised by Wednesfield in Bloom and St Thomas Church.St Thomas Centre was wonderfully decorated inside and out with Union flags. Wednesfield residents were joined by local councillors, Mary and Phil Bateman, Greg Brackenridge and Jacqueline Coogan, MP Sureena Brackenridge and the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Linda Leach. Sandwiches, cakes and trifles covered the tables and we listened to live songs from the 40s. Older residents shared their memories of the first VE day celebration with us and children were kept amused with WW2 related activities.
