In Ludger's own words:
Farewell After 18 Years in Kibworth, Smeeton and Saddington
"As I retire from my role as parish priest, my family and I want to thank the people of the Kibworth Benefice for 18 years of shared life, faith and friendship. It has been a privilege for me to walk alongside these communities — through baptisms and funerals, worship and school assemblies, quiet visits and lively meetings. I’ve witnessed deep kindness, generosity, resilience and the grace of everyday faith. Alongside the formal moments of ministry, we have shared countless everyday joys — fêtes and concerts, laughter at community events, unexpected kindness on ordinary days, as well as times of sorrow when we have leaned on one another for strength. These moments of shared humanity have woven us together in ways I will never forget. Ruth has loved her time as a teacher at Kibworth, Church Langton and Fleckney Primary schools as well as having the privilege of coordinating RE and Collective Worship. Our two sons arrived as children and we have been grateful for the beautiful village community in which they have grown up. Jay recently married at St Wilfrid’s and Reuben has had the privilege of serving as a retained firefighter in Kibworth in past years. We have all been part of village life in so many ways. Kibworth has shaped us, supported us and truly become home for us. As a German, one of my most humbling experiences has been presiding over our annual remembrance ceremony. To stand in silence with this village — honouring lives lost and pledging ourselves to peace — has been deeply meaningful. I leave with gratitude, sadness, and hope — grateful for all we’ve shared, sad to say goodbye, and hopeful for what lies ahead for us all."
With love and thanks, Revd Ludger Fremmer
