Newsletter Extra

You will notice that there is no mention of our services in the newsletter this week. Read on…..

There have been a number of requests for useful information to go into the newsletter e.g. Lectionary readings, various types of prayer diary, contact information etc. We have looked at how to do this without taking up too much of the 2 sides of A4 (that we try and keep to each week) and still leaving enough space for ‘news’ items and articles. It is important, we believe, to keep the newsletter as dynamic as possible and a monthly communication to supplement the newsletter is perhaps the way to go. Last month we sent out the Sunday and Wednesday service readings/diary so have begun the process.

We have included our first version this week to coincide with the new set of readings and arrangements for Holy Week. At the moment it includes contact information, the lectionary readings for the next month and the church services until Easter. We will add other parts to this as we progress, but are particularly keen to have a prayer section of some sort, drawing on past practice but also with a fresh look at how we do this. All ideas are welcome!

Booking for Easter Services

It is with great joy that we confirm we are returning to public worship for some services in Holy Week and for Easter Sunday. Morning prayer will be said in St Laurence’s Church on Good Friday at 10.00am. On Easter Sunday there will be a parish Eucharist service in St Mary’s Church at 9.30am followed by an open air service of praise in the Molson Garden at 11.00am. These services will also be streamed via Facebook. There is a full programme of online services for Holy Week, many of them via Zoom to allow us to interact and share fellowship with each other.

It is necessary to register for the services in the churches on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Please book via the Parish Office [email protected] Tel: 01903 709163

Church cleaning

The decision to come back to Church on Easter Day has been made, and we will be having a morning to bring back the sparkle to St Mary’s Church on Saturday 3rd April to celebrate both Easter and being able to worship together again, albeit still with restrictions. Make a note of the date in your diaries and come armed with dusters, polish and cobweb brushes and join us. Refreshments will be provided.

2021 Electoral Roll Update

We now need to have a Revision of our Electoral Roll ready for the APCM on 25th April 2021. It will be open for revision from Wednesday, 24th March 2021 until Wednesday, 7th April 2021.

If you are already on the roll there is no need to do anything unless any of your details have changed.

If you wish to be added to the Electoral Roll then please contact either the Parish Office by e-mail or phone [email protected] or 01903-709163 or any of the churchwardens to be sent an application form. It needs to be returned before the closing date of 7th April.

Christian Aid Week

Christian Aid week this year is from 10-16 May. An online service is being planned through the Worthing committee.

Fund raising this year will have to be different from the previous House-to-House collection as it will only be through a drop off envelope to some houses asking the recipient to pass any donation to a given address.

If you are able to volunteer to deliver only envelopes it would be most helpful. Contact either Julie Marlow 01903 249685 for St. Laurence area or David Burt 01903 248204 for St. Mary’s end.

Many thanks Julie & Russell Marlow Di & David Burt.

Prayer Circles

There are people who will pray regularly about any concerns you, your family or friends may have, and will keep all requests confidential among themselves. To request such prayers please telephone either Sylvia on 01903 529743 or Barbara on 01903 240613

Pastoral Visits

Please let Fr. Keith, Fr. Neill or the Wardens know if you have a personal or pastoral concern or may know of someone in need.

May God bless you and give you peace,

Fr. Keith, Fr. Neill, Gill, Janice, Ruth and Geoff
