Crib Service on Christmas Eve

for 1 hour
Venue
St Wilfrid
Address
Church Road Haywards Heath West Sussex, RH16 3QH, United Kingdom

This very popular and joyful Christmas service always attracts many young families - so do arrive early for the 4pm start.

We remember together the wonder of God with us, arriving in the little town of Bethlehem as a baby boy, the Light of the World. That was just over 2,000 years ago; baby Jesus' crib was an animals' feeding trough, and poor shepherds were the first visitors to young Mary and Joseph the carpenter as they celebrated the birth of the Messiah in circumstances not expected by the religious authorities.

We have very limited parking in the Centenary Hall just behind the church, accessed on foot through the churchyard, but there is also the main Orchards car park close by - both off St Wilfrid's Way.

Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Wilfrid
Address
Church Road Haywards Heath West Sussex, RH16 3QH, United Kingdom

This traditional late-night service offers the first opportunity in our parish to receive the gift of Holy Communion on Christmas morning, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Saviour, at whose Last Supper he instituted the churches' tradition of breaking bread and sharing wine in remembrance of his saving death on a cross and his glorious Resurrection and Ascension.

The Christmas Gospel from the first chapter of John's Gospel is read, in which we are told that Jesus was the same Word, now made flesh, through whom all creation came into being. We also sing Christmas hymns in praise of the Incarnation.

If you wish to receive a gluten-free Holy Communion wafer, please let us know before the service begins.

Christmas Day Sung Eucharist: 10am, St Wilfrid's Church

Supported by our church choir, we sing favourite Christmas hymns and carols and hear the Christmas story from the Bible as we celebrate the wonderful Incarnation, when the Light of the World was born in humble circumstances, first witnessed by poor shepherds as the Saviour of All.

(Please note: at our sister Church of the Presentation in New England Road there is also a very similar service this morning which also starts at 10am.)

If you would like to receive a gluten-free Communion wafer, please let us know before the service begins at 10am.

There will be ample parking in our small car park at the Centenary Hall, just behind the church, and in the much larger Orchards car park on the opposite side of St Wilfrid's Way
