On the 10th June 7 members of our Mothers’ Union Branch at Hellingly travelled to London for a very special service at St Paul’s Cathedral. It was to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Mothers’ Union and its founder Mary Sumner. What an amazing occasion it was with over 1500 members from across the world filling the Cathedral. The service was led by The Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Revd and Right Hon. Dame Sarah Mullally together with a message from our Worldwide President Kathleen Snow from Canada. The singing and worship was so uplifting and after the service our group joined a short queue to shake hands with both The Archbishop and Worldwide President. Then as we exited St Paul’s into brilliant sunshine the bells were ringing at full volume. Our group had a wonderful day celebrating this landmark anniversary amongst many fellow members.
Apostles’ Award Pilgrims reach Canterbury!6 pilgrims from our church walked from Charing in Kent to Canterbury Cathedral last weekend. They did this to fulfil part of a scheme we run to encourage Christians to grow in faith and discipleship.Fr Jeremy (Vicar of Hellingly) said, “It was wonderful to be greeted so warmly by the people at the Cathedral. We joined the main Sunday morning Eucharist. To be part of such a beautiful service after slogging through wind and rain the day before was a wonderful moment for us all. Thank you to the stewards and canons of the cathedral in making the conclusion of our journey so memorable.”#CanterburyCathedral
