“Hushed excitement… the night before something big.”

Imagine that magical feeling when the lights go down at a Christingle service, or the anticipation of the night before something wonderful — that’s what Easter Eve captures.

We begin in a dark church, with a fire burning outside. From that fire, the pascal candle is lit and carried inside, and everyone can light their candle, spreading the light around the building — a symbol of Jesus as the light of the world and the new dawn we celebrate on Easter morning.

Together we’ll sing, hear the Easter story — the heart of all our celebrations — and leave with excitement building for the joy of Easter morning. It’s reflective, welcoming, and joyful for all ages.

The parish of Hove: St Andrew is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Chichester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
