Fr. Timothy Newton, Curate at St. Nicholas Church, Arundel and St. Leonard's Church,South Stoke joined us two years ago in 2024 having completed his training at St. Stephen's College, Oxford.
He was ordained Deacon in June 2024 and then ordained Priest in June 2025. Both ceremonies performed by the Bishop of Lewes, Will Hazlewood at St. Nicholas Church, Arundel. Tim has played a huge role in assisting our Rector, Canon David Twinley, (also Vicar at St. Nicholas, Arundel) , taking services at both churches as well as at St. Mary Magdelene's Church at Tortington, the third church in our Benefice. Since the beginning of this year Tim has also been Curate in Charge of St. Mary's Church, Littlehampton,
Tim, along with his wife Stephanie and children Winnie and Rupert have been a wonderful addition to our churches' family and they will all be very much missed. However, the time has come for them to return home to their native Australia, where Tim will be taking up a post at a church in North Sydney.
Tim's last service with us will be when he celebrates and preaches at the 10 o'clock Sung Mass Service at St. Nicholas Church, Arundel, on Sunday, August 9th, where congregations from all of our churches will gather to say "Farewell".
There will not be a 9am Holy Communion Service at St. Leonard's Church, South Stoke on that day.
We wish Tim every success with his new post, and all the family, a very happy future with their new life back home.
