All Saints News 9th May

Dear Friends,

Welcome to this week's email bulletin from ye olde parish church, we begin with some good news.....

NEW LIFE

Jess, James and Charlie Wardle are pleased to announce the safe arrival of Grace Betty born on 8th May weighing 6 lbs 3 1/2 oz. By the looks of the picture attached Charlie is going to be a devoted big brother! We can also share the news that Emma and Mark Trounson are expecting a baby too, due early November. As our Director of Mission through Music, Emma is pleased to share this news with you but does ask that you don't mention this on social media. We are delighted that the music department of All Saints is continuing to grow!

CREATIVITY

This week Noel Hollick, who is one of our regular dustbusters on a Friday morning prior to closure, has been getting creative at home. Attached is a picture of some of the stones he has been painting in memory of his friends.

DEMENTIA SUPPORT

Before lockdown began, which seems another lifetime ago now, a number of us had a training morning with the Alzheimer's Society and became Dementia Friends. As part of that we looked at ways we could support those caring for a loved one with Dementia and an initial Saturday morning drop-in was trialled organised by Ann Barsby. Ann is keen to ensure that we continue to support one another during this time of isolation so would happily be in touch with anyone who might just like to pick up the phone and know that someone is willing to listen. You can contact Ann directly on [email protected] and she will be pleased to hear from you. Also attached to this email is a poster with details of support in the area.

SUNDAY WORSHIP

Join us again tomorrow from 9.30am on our Youtube Chanel for Little Saints and then our Communion service at 10.00am and at 6pm for a live streamed Evening Prayer picking up the theme of the VE Day commemorations.

A time to say hello to one another and catch up on the week is available on Zoom from 11.00am for an hour. If you want details of how to log in - please email us.

THROUGH THE WEEK

Morning Prayer every day 9.00am on our Facebook Page.

Evening Prayer via Zoom 7.00pm Monday to Friday. If you want details of how to log in - please email us.

Hopefully there will be another Prayer Book Communion service led by Revd Mark from his home this Wednesday at 10.00am, hopefully with the screen the right way round this time! We are all learning as we go along with the technology so we are grateful for all the feedback and encouragement people have been giving us as we go along.

'Ministers Muse' will return on Tuesday where I will be joined by some other colleagues in reflecting on the scripture passages for the upcoming Sunday service. This week at the earlier time of 10.00am. This is a live streamed conversation via Youtube.

ECO-CHURCH

It's not too late to let Revd Emily know if you would like to be part of a conversation taking forward our Lent theme in practical ways. Please email Emily on [email protected] so she can involve you.

EASTER GIFT

To help us address the inevitable shortfall in our projected income this year we have set up a justgiving page to enable people to give one off donations easily. I shall be writing to you with further details about church finances in the coming few days but for now here is the link for out Easter Gift Campaign. I am willing to take on a sponsored challenge myself as part of this campaign and will let you know when I have worked out what that might be!

CHANGES TO LOCKDOWN

With you I am longing for the time when restrictions are eased and we can open our church building and gather again. However, it is imperative that we don't get complacent about the virus and that we make all our decisions based on protecting the whole of our community particularly the most vulnerable. I will of course update you as soon as anything changes and will be working with the wardens, PCC and ministry team on how we can safely reopen as and when the advice allows for this. For now our building remains closed but we the living stones of the church continue to be built up into a spiritual house and we look forward to that day when we will meet again.....
