Interregnum Update

We are now able to bring you up to date with the progress of the Interregnum and our search for a Priest in Charge.

The profile has been approved by the Diocese and we have also prepared an advertisement to appear in The Church Times. To our delight, two of our Patrons are paying for this, which is very costly. Our profile will also appear online, so hopefully will reach a wide audience and encourage someone special to come forward!

We have an interview date of 24 July and four of us, Paul Barrett and me from Harpsden and Wendy Robinson and John Bodman representing Shiplake and Dunsden, will join members of the Diocese and the Patrons on the selection committee. Your prayers and good wishes for a successful outcome will be much appreciated.

Dear parishioners

For many of you who are not familiar with the procedures to be followed during an Interregnum I am writing on behalf of the Church Wardens and the PCCs to let you know what happens.

Although Robert left us at the end of October his official leaving date was 24th November and the official start date of the Interregnum was 25th January. Since that time, a Benefice Profile has been drawn up which will be circulated by the Diocese to potential candidates for our vacancy. This is in the final stages of completion and will be sent to the Diocese shortly.

In addition, we have to elect two members of each PCC to join the Bishop, Patrons and Archdeacons on interview day to select our new incumbent.

This all takes time, but rest assured we are moving at pace to achieve these goals.

In the meantime, as you are all aware, we have been able to hold our weekly services as normal, thanks to Rev. Pam and Rev. Heather. In particular, many thanks go to Pam who has worked tirelessly to invite visiting clergy to ensure consistency. We also, of course, have a dedicated team of lay leaders.

If anyone has any questions please don’t hesitate to contact your Church Warden.

Kind regards
