Social and Future Events

We enjoy many opportunities to get together for fellowship across the Benefice - in addition to the refreshments we usually share after our services. We look forward to welcoming you to an event soon. These are the categories you will find on this page (some items may feature in more than one place!):

1. Future Events
This list comes from the newsletter and may not contain all events, so please also check the individual sections below.

  • Sunday 18th January - Choral Evensong St Mary's Church, Henley 14:45 for 16:00 service
  • Monday 19th January - Henley Manor Cinema afternoon, 15:00 to watch the film Six Triple Eight Email Louise to reserve a place.
  • Friday January 30th - Henley Music School Opera event, Bottle and Glass Barn
  • Tuesday 17th February - Pancake Supper, Dunsden 19:00 (See below, section 4)
  • Sunday 22nd February - Snowdrop Sunday, Dunsden 11:00 service (See below, section 4)
  • Friday 6th March - World day of Prayer, Dunsden 13:30
  • Monday 9th March - Installation of new Priest-in-charge,  Dunsden 19:30

2. Anna Chaplaincy Events
Anna lunches and teas are open to all in their maturity but we also welcome anyone who would value the social interaction it affords. 3. Boys Brunches
Boys Brunches are hosted by Paul, usually every first Monday of the month, 10.30 am - 12 noon, and are for all mature gentlemen who may, or may not, have recently lost a loved one, live alone and would welcome company, like talking, or listening, or just want to chew the cud with a group of sympathetic blokes. Come and join us for tea/coffee and a bite to eat whilst putting the world to rights.

4. Calendar Related or Miscellaneous Events
These special events celebrate particular dates, items in the church calendar or season / nature and can include concerts, get togethers, services and workshops. More details will follow soon.

  • Tuesday 17th February - Pancake Supper, Dunsden 19:00 - We offer soup, pancakes, a glass of wine or soft drink, all followed by a beetle drive. Tickets £10.00. Available from Yvonne or Rosemary.
  • Sunday 22nd February - Snowdrop Sunday at All Saints church, Dunsden 11:00 - see the poster here. A short simple celebratory service will be followed by refreshments and a broad range of entertainment during the afternoon, finishing about 5 pm. So come along and relax with our splendid refreshments, a wide range of music, poetry presented by you the visitors if you so wish, several short talks and narrative. It's a free event so come along and enjoy an unusual Sunday.
  • Monday 9th March - Installation of new Priest-in-charge Dunsden 19:30

5. Community Lunches
The Community Lunches are usually self-funded, visit a variety of local establishments and are open to anyone who would like to join us. 

Following a very successful community church lunch at Shiplake Meadows, we will be going there again in February. Please contact Revd Heather for further details and to book your place on [email protected] or 07946352026.

6. Cuppa and Chat
All Saints ,Dunsden will be open the first Wednesday afternoon of the month (2.30-4.30) for a cuppa, cake, biscuits and chat. All are welcome. Should you like to bring along any unfinished crafts to finish yourself or need help to get them completed, we are here for you. Contact Yvonne by email for details.

7. Study and Prayer
While not solely social, like many of the other events listed here, we have several groups that share refreshments and fellowship alongside study and prayer. If this is of interest, please see below, as well as the Benefice Bible Study and Benefice Prayer Group pages.

New Bible Study House Group – The Letter to the Hebrews
David and Shelagh will be hosting a new Bible Study House Group at their home on the last Thursday of each month from 2–4pm, beginning Thursday 25th September 2025. Read more here. Email David by clicking here. Please note the January meeting has been cancelled - see you in February.
