St Peter's Weekend 2026

St Peter's is looking forward to celebrating St Peter over a special weekend this June.

On the 27th and 28th June, there are services and events going on in Burnham with something for everyone.

Saturday (27th) from 1pm will bring OPEN CHURCH - as once more we open our doors for everyone to visit; offering villagers and visitors from further afield a chance to enjoy the history and beauty of St Peter's.  The altar frontals and plate will be on display, there will be an organ recital, tours of the tower (weather permitting) a chance to try ringing the tower bells and enjoy refreshments in Cornerstone - which will also feature a display of photographs from the last 40 years (we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Cornerstone this October)

The evening from 6pm will bring BEER & HYMNS to Cornerstone.  An opportunity to sing in a jovial atmosphere; celebrating the memories of childhood and church by singing much loved favourites - all accompanied by the piano.  Entry is £3 per person (this includes your festival cup) and there will be a licensed bar with beer, ale and cider available.  St Peter's Commemorative Beer will be launched at this event, a special brew created for us to celebrate Cornerstone's 40th.  Whilst not specifically over 18's only - it is very much an event designed for grown ups to enjoy musical memories and a few ales with friends.  All welcome.

Sunday (28th) we celebrate our PATRONAL FESTIVAL SERVICE at 10am in church - come and join us for our morning Eucharist with hymns and notices, all are welcome to worship.

From 1pm to 3pm in Cornerstone, you can come along and treat yourselves to a CREAM TEA  Pre-booking is not necessary, just arrive at Cornerstone to be seated.  A variety of cakes will be available to accompany your scones, jam, cream and beverages.  Prices will vary and cash/cards can be accepted.  Our wonderful cream teas are renowned for their deliciousness,  so do come and partake in one; you'll be delighted you did!

Bringing our official weekend to a close with the beauties of spirituality and melody - join us for CHORAL EVENSONG from 6pm in the church. The choirs of St Peter's Church and Windsor Combined Churches will be singing a variety of pieces; it is sure to be a service to uplift and inspire.  Following this amazing service, come through for fellowship over prosecco and nibbles in Cornerstone.

Not forgetting, on Monday 29th June, the annual GIRLS' BRIGADE vs CONGREGATION ROUNDERS MATCH will be taking place at St Peter's Recreation Ground, St Peter's Close, Burnham SL1 7HS - from about 6pm onwards

This is a match that produces hidden athletics, hilarity and plenty of action as the girls from 1st Burnham Company take on parents/congregants/friends.  Fun times each year during St Peter's celebrations - all are welcome.

Tuesday 30th June, FRIENDLY BOMBS THEATRE GROUP will be EXPLORING MACBETH TOGETHER in church from 7pm

The Friendly Bombs theatre group have been workshopping Macbeth over the last year - please support them as they bring forth some of what they've discovered about this famous story from the Bard.
