Churchyard ornaments and flowers

We draw attention to everyone concerned that the Vicar and PCC are required to implement the rules of the Diocese Churchyard Regulations, and we request that all items such as ornaments and decorations are removed from the churchyard. This will ultimately help maintain an environment in which one can more comfortably reflect on the memory of loved ones, and thus will be for the benefit of everyone.

We kindly ask that items are removed by 31st August, 2026, Full details are given in the attached document.

In addition to the above restrictions on ornaments, owners are also reminded that decorative chippings/pebbles are not allowed including any border or kerb that is proud of the surrounding grass surface. Flower pots should be heavy enough to remain upright, or be spiked into the ground. Ideally they should be placed directly on the grass or alternatively on a flush surface of paving slabs or a stone slab. If the owner wishes to lay paving slabs, it should be done in conjunction with the vicar / sexton and under no circumstances should any excavated material be removed from the graveyard.
