Peacemaking in our Time and in the Gospel : The Role of the Military in Peacemaking

Mr Nicholas Orr, who has recently retired from a senior position in the British Army, will lead a discussion on how, from a Christian perspective, the military can contribute to peacemaking. All are welcome to join us. It will finish at 1 pm.

The robed choir assist us in our worship, while the company of servers maintain the dignity of the liturgy. The sermon offers a reflection of the readings and the intercessions focus our prayers. After the service we serve refreshments and our fellowship continues.

Midweek moment to pray and celebrate Holy Communion

Using material produced by the Church of England, we are reflecting together on building good habits for the Christian life: Worship, Prayer, Reading Scripture, Sharing Holy Communion, Acts of Service, and Sharing the Good News. At St Mary's Vicarage, 17a Edward Road.

Join us in the church for a walking meditation in church following Jesus' journey to the Cross. (About 40mins.)

We enter God's presence, listen to a simple reflection, and hold a time of silence together.

Once a month we have a simple and reflective act of Holy Communion in the side chapel. This said service is about 30 minutes in length and offers an opportunity to rest in the love of God.

This service draws exclusively on the songs of the Taize community to offer a reflective service of prayer and thanksgiving. Simple repetitive chants, icons and candles are key elements of this evening service.

A multisensory act of worship on a Lent theme, with beautiful chants, silence, and iconography, framing the reading of a Gospel story.

A fortnightly opportunity to reflect on our Sunday Bible readings in more detail, and to pray together.

Where there is a fifth Sunday in the month, our regular Sung Eucharist includes a liturgy of anointing and prayers for healing, and the sermon will reflects on the theme of healing. Our pastoral team offer prayer and laying on of hands after the service in the side chapel.
