On our visit to Kenya last year we were introduced to children who had been abandoned at a local police station. One was aged 13 yrs, one 11 yrs, and one pre-school age. The youngest was being looked after by nuns, but the other two boys were living in an orphanage in Embu, attending a local school, and being well cared for. However, the eldest boy has albinism, a condition which is difficult to manage in a very sunny climate. His eyesight is poor and he needs special glasses and creams to protect his skin and lips. When we made an application to local business, Ground Control, they considered our application to help this boy and they responded by donating enough funds to look after him for four years - until he finishes senior school. He can now have the correct glasses and creams which will enable him to spend time outside learning agriculture which is a subject all children in the region need to learn to enable them to support themselves. We are so thankful, and so is the orphanage.
