This year’s Team Annual Memirial Service was held at Christ Church. The Servuce is held at one of the Team Churches every year in All Saints Sunday. Visitors may bring flowers which are made into a Cross which is brought forward during the Service. Everyone is invited to light a candle for each person they are remembering and place it around the Cross. They take as much time as they need. The Service was followed by a tea in the Church hall when everyone had a chance to chat and share their thoughts with each other. This year 100 people attended the Service. It was both a sad and a blessed time.
We chose Sunday, 24 September as our Environment Sunday when Authorised Local Preacher and Geography teacher, Paul Hunt, preached an interactive sermon involving the children on the importance of caring for the environment. The bible readings were Psalm 65.9-12 and Luke 12.22-34, and the service can be found at http://www.christchurch-billericay.co.uk/
We heard from A Rocha on Friday 2 June that Christ Church has been granted the A Rocha Eco Church Silver Award for its further achievements in making the Church as eco-friendly as possible. We have made considerable progress since the Bronze Award and are delighted with this news. We have a team which works weekly on the Church grounds to ensure plants, trees and shrubs are well kept. We select plants and shrubs which are known to be bee pollinators. We planted six cherry trees and 4,000 crocus bulbs in October 2021. Our Church office now orders eco-friendly paper and disposable products, and we encourage our congregation to re-use and re-cycle at home. We will now go for Gold!
