A Warm Welcome from Revd Angela and Revd Edison
Warm greetings in Christ to everyone across Margaretting, Mountnessing, and Buttsbury!
We are Revd Angela and Revd Edison, and we are delighted to be serving as your curates across the Benefice of Margaretting, Mountnessing, and Buttsbury, as part of our wider five-parish family alongside Ingatestone and Fryerning. We want to express our heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome and generous hospitality you have shown us since our arrival.
On Sunday 13 September 2026, we were ordained as deacons at Chelmsford Cathedral by the Bishop of Chelmsford, the Rt Revd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani. It was a joyful, prayerful milestone as we made our promises before God and the Church. Originally from Tamil Nadu, India, our Christian roots are in the Church of South India. God’s calling led our steps into the Church of England, and following our theological training at St Mellitus College in London, we are eager to listen, learn, and minister alongside you.
We share our curacy as a husband-and-wife ministry team under the guidance of our Training Incumbent, the Revd Canon Lee Francis-Dehqani, working with Focal Minister Timothy Lee and the dedicated parish teams.
Each of our three parish churches has its own distinct beauty, history, and calling:
St Giles, Mountnessing: A warm and welcoming centre of parish life and fellowship, gathering regularly for Sunday Holy Communion, Family Worship, and village celebrations.
St Mary’s, Buttsbury: An ancient, quiet, and sacred countryside sanctuary, offering a peaceful, candlelit space for prayer, contemplation, and Sunday Communion.
St Margaret’s, Margaretting: A historic village treasure known for its timber bell tower and 15th-century Jesse window, welcoming the community for festival celebrations, weddings, baptisms, and treasured moments of village life.
For us, authentic ministry begins with listening and building relationships. We hope to walk alongside you in the everyday rhythms of life as well as during key milestones—times of celebration, change, and sorrow. Whether you have worshipped in these churches for decades, have recently moved into the area, or are simply curious about exploring faith, our doors and hearts are open to you.
We share a deep prayer with our communities to see all our churches flourish—places where people encounter God's living presence, find true belonging, and experience Christ’s unconditional love.
Please introduce yourself whenever you see us around the villages, at services, or at community events. If you would like a home visit, a listening ear, or pastoral prayer, please do get in touch.
Thank you for welcoming us into your parish family. Please keep us in your prayers as we begin this new chapter together.
With our prayers and every blessing,
Revd Angela & Revd Edison
