Candlelight Communions

From March 2026, we are introducing Candlelight Communion - a monthly weekday evening service of the Eucharist using The Book of Common Prayer.

Services will last approximately 45 minutes and aim to provide space for rest and contemplation through the poetic language of the Prayer Book and thought-provoking subjects, all in the beauty of the church at night.

Candlelight Communions will begin at 7.30pm. More about upcoming services:

  • Wednesday 25th March - The Annunciation of Our Lord - Nine months before Christmas, we celebrate the famous message of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary; that she would conceive and bear a son called Jesus.
  • Thursday 23rd April - Saint George, Patron of England - An exploration of the often misunderstood and misused patron saint of England. Far from a figure of nationalism, George points us to the eternal love of God for his creation.
  • Thursday 14th May - The Ascension of Christ - A celebration of the Feast of the Ascension, when the risen Christ ascended to the heavens. The divine narrative of Incarnation, Passion, and Resurrection moves into its next stage as Christ returns to his Father and ours.
  • Thursday 4th June - Corpus Christi - What is Holy Communion and where does it come from? Today commemorates the Institution of Holy Communion, also known as Corpus Christi (Latin for 'the Body of Christ') and we give thanks for this great gift of Christ to his Church.
