Serving North Shoebury for a Thousand Years
Safeguarding
The parish of North Shoebury: St Mary the Virgin is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Chelmsford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
For more details, please see our Safeguarding Page.
About us
There has been a Christian presence on this site for over 800 years and the current building is nearly 800 years old. The centuries of prayer in the building give it a peaceful and holy feel. It is set amidst an eco area with a beautifully kept churchyard and feels like a small and friendly country church.
We celebrate the Eucharist on Sundays at 11:15am and Thursdays at 10am and morning prayer on Mondays and Thursdays at 9:15am. All are welcome, whether you have never been in a church before, have been a churchgoer all your life or something in between. There will always be someone at the door to welcome you, give you everything you need and answer any questions.
