Jubilate, a benefice-wide service

Occurring
Sunday 29 March 2026, Sunday 31 May 2026, Sunday 30 August 2026 Sunday at for 45 mins
Venue
St Mary the Virgin, Radwinter
Address
Walden Road Radwinter Saffron Walden, CB10 2SW, United Kingdom

All are welcome in these all-age inclusive services. Something a little different to our Sunday mornings and part of our shared life as disciples of Jesus Christ. The location is a different church in the benefice each time.
In these afternoon services, typically 4pm on the 5th Sunday of the month, when that occurs. The service involves hymns and an activity related to a reading from scripture or the season or feast day of the church. We have a scratch / come and join choir for anyone who would like to be part of leading the sung worship. The choir rehearsal is for no more than an hour before the service. The next Jubilatre service is in Radwinter, the one following in Hempstead, the one following that in Little Sampford

every fifth Sunday

Thaxted: St John the Baptist with Our Lady and St. Laurence

Welcome to Thaxted's parish church: we'd love to see you in person, but are very happy that you are looking at the benefice online.

With the spire that stands out as a beacon for miles around, whatever it is that you value about the beautiful church you should always know that you are welcome inside. Prayer, peace, worship, and the beauty of holiness: come and see.

St John the Baptist with Our Lady and St Laurence is the Parish Church for Thaxted and the surrounding land. We are rooted in a liberal Anglo-Catholic tradition of the Church of England, and deeply rooted in our local community. Prayer and the sacraments are our bedrock for the inclusivity, hospitality and the welcome we hope are consistent in our DNA. A lot happens in our church; at the heart of it all is our faith in God and love for him. As we seek to serve our community and wider world we only wish to show love for our neighbours and God.

Along with Great and Little Sampford, Radwinter, and Hempstead, we are within a benefice of five friendly churches in rural North West Essex.

See the 'Pattern of Services' page for information about Sunday and weekday services.
