Come and join us this morning at Morning Prayer and Holy Rosary as we celebrate the remarkable life and witness of Hildegard of Bingen, abbess, visionary, musician and polymath. She wrote poems, chant, a liturgical drama, as well as theological, botanical and medicinal works. She was well on the way to understanding the circulation of the blood, centuries before Harvey in 1628. Hildegard was born around 1098 and started having visions at the age of 3. In her 40s she began to write them down and they came to the attention of Pope Eugenius at the synod in Trier in 1147, when she received papal approval to document the visions as revelations from the Holy Spirit.
Hildegard was canonised and declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012.
