Sunday 11th January 11am Plough Service

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
Slawston: All Saints
Address
Main Street Slawston Market Harborough, LE16 7UA, United Kingdom

Join us as we think about and pray for those who work on the land and who produce food in this and other communities; and in line with the old tradition, we will be blessing a plough and seed as our farmers prepare to break the ground and plant the seed this year. We have 2 Plough Services in our Benefice this year - this service on 11th January at Slawston Church and then at East Norton Church on 18th January.

East Norton: All Saints

The church at East Norton is dedicated to ALL SAINTS and is a grade II* listed building mostly of 13th century construction. There is small west tower of three stages with a recessed spire which was added in the fourteenth century. On the North wall hangs an engraving showing the church in 1793. This same picture features in 'A History and Antiquities of Leicestershire' by John Nichols (volume three part one), compiled between 1795 and 1815.

We welcome visitors to All Saints East Norton at any time, but especially to our services and events. Our church building is not big, at one time a chapelry of Tugby. We are now an independent parish. Our church is part of the Hallaton Benefice and is within the wider Launde Deanery Minster Community.

Our church building is small, but just the right size for the village.

East Norton is a ‘Thankful Village’ having lost none of it’s residents in WW1. There is a thanksgiving window for the safe return of all the men.

We have occasional services, more frequent services are held at the other churches within the Hallaton Benefice (see the newsletter available via this page) and elsewhere within the Launde Deanery Minster Community (at Welcome to the Launde Deanery Minster Community Website – see Service Times tab).
