We host a variety of fantastic performers from across the country, including organists, instrumental ensembles and chamber choirs. For more information about individual performances week to week, please visit our website.

The recital will last approximately 40 minutes, entry is free and booking is not required.

This concert for Remembrance combines music from England and France which was composed during the world wars of the 20th century. Hubert Parry’s lush double choir setting of words from Psalm 39, the last of his Songs of Farewell, is a plea for certainty and salvation written at a time when his students were being killed and gassed on World War 1’s western front.

Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem was written in response to a commission by the Vichy government during World War 2 but completed after the Allied liberation. It sets most of the traditional Latin text using chants from the Gregorian mass for the dead but accompanies them with lush choral harmony and a famously virtuosic organ part.

The beautiful rendition will be performed by Birmingham Cathedral’s Choir of Girls and Lower Voices.

Doors will open at 1800 with unreserved seating throughout the cathedral. The performance will start promptly at 1900.

Refreshments will be served from our bar before the performance.

Tickets will be available on the door, subject to availability. We recommend booking in advance.

Come and experience a spectacular performance of Handel’s most famous oratorio this Christmas.

Handel’s Messiah is one of the most famous choral works of all time, an oratorio describing the life and significance of Jesus Christ. The text comes entirely from the Bible and the music is a repository of famous tunes, particularly the iconic Hallelujah Chorus.

This performance will be conducted by David Hardie, with professional orchestra, Birmingham Cathedral Choir, and solo performances from Beth Stirling, Celia Butterfield, Tom Hawkey-Soar and Isaac Boulter.

Doors will open at 1800 with unreserved seating throughout the cathedral.

The performance will start promptly at 1900.

Children of all ages and their families are invited to join us for our special children’s carol service – including our annual ‘pop-up’ nativity. Fancy dress not essential but encouraged!

Including many well-known carols and readings, this relaxed and interactive service will follow the story of Jesus’ birth.

Just turn up, enjoy a festive visit to the cathedral and enjoy Christmas in Cathedral Square while you’re with us!

Our Nine Lessons and Carols services will include well-known carols sung by our cathedral choir. This beautiful service in the days just before Christmas tells the story of God’s encounter with humanity through Bible readings and carols. The music for this service includes some carols sung by Birmingham Cathedral Choir, and some sung by all.

Our Midnight Mass service is where we come together late on Christmas Eve to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is the first service of Christmas and ends at about midnight. We will sing and listen to hymns and carols, hear Bible readings and a sermon, pray, and celebrate Holy Communion. All are welcome to this atmospheric service.

Our Christmas Day Eucharist is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. It is a chance to reflect on and experience the joy that comes with the birth of the Christ Child, that which lies at the heart of all the bustle and busyness of the season. All are welcome to this service as we rejoice in the birth of Christ.
