In today’s liturgy we gather to solemnly recall Our Lord’s death. We listen once more to the Passion narrative; we venerate the cross as a sign of our recognition of its significance for our lives; we pray for the Church and for a suffering world, and finally we receive the body of Christ in Communion (consecrated at last night’s Mass). We then leave in silence as we mourn Jesus’ death.

St Matthew

St Matthew's is a friendly and welcoming church in the 'Modern Catholic' tradition.  Our worship is centred on The Eucharist or Mass and is dignified but never stuffy. The priest wears vestments coloured according to the liturgical season, and incense is normally used on Sundays and major Feast Days.  St Matthew's is proud to be a member of 'Inclusive Church' and offers a genuinely warm and unconditional welcome to everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, background, sexuality gender identity or relationship status.
