Rev Sarah's Sabbatical

Here are some words from Rev Sarah concerning her forthcoming Sabbatical.........

"Some people have been asking about my sabbatical - every 10 years clergy are entitled to apply for a Sabbatical - up to 12 weeks away from the parish. Ely Diocese say - Extended Ministerial Leave allows space and time for a different type of engagement, it provides space and time to enable growth in leadership and a vocational reflection and it also creates space and time to renew and deepen an individual’s commitment to God.
I will be looking at the subject of Wintering as a season in our church and faith and what God is doing.
There is a lot of secular liturgy on wintering but I have not found much Christian literature around this.
I will be spending time around Durham looking at Northern Saints and will then be going onto Lindisfarne (Holy Island) for 3 weeks. Lindisfarne is a tidal island on the North East Coast.
From there I will be spending time catching up with friends and family and I will finish my sabbatical on retreat in Exeter for 3 weeks where life will be moving into spring.
My first Sunday back with you will be Palm Sunday which is the 29th March and there will be one service that day and we will have our first bring and share lunch of the year. I look forward to hearing what God has been doing in your midst whilst sharing what He has been doing in my life.
Simon is not able to join me for most of this so you will see him at St Peters and he will be preaching and leading at St Peter's but we will have time together during my sabbatical."

Bellringing

Every Friday at for 1 hour
St. Peter's Church, Yaxley

Our bell ringing team meets weekly to practice. Newcomers welcome. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Traditional Service of Holy Communion

Every First, Second, Third, Fourth Sunday at for 1 hour

We have two services on a Sunday morning, and the first is at 9.00am. This is a fairly traditional service with organ, hymns, and Communion; we don't have anything set for the children, but we have a creche which the children enjoy. This service is an hour long.

Contemporary Worship Service

Every Sunday at for 1 hour, 30 mins
St. Peter's Church, Yaxley

Our second Sunday morning service is at 11.00am, and the form of the service differs from week to week.
There is Communion on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays, with an All Age service on the 1st Sunday and Bible teaching and worship on the 4th Sunday. When there is a 5th Sunday we gather together with the 9.00am congregation for a service of Communion.
The 11.00 service is more contemporary, with a band or music videos. We have groups and activities for the children aged 3 and over; younger than that they are most welcome in the creche or in church. This service is usually about an hour and a half long, and there are refreshments served after every 11.00am service.
There is nothing you need to do to attend - wear whatever you are comfortable in, and hopefully you will find that we are very friendly. There is car parking around the church (entrance just north of the church), or parking on the road is OK.

Community Hub

Every Wednesday at for 4 hours
Olivemede Care Home

Community Hub takes place at the old Olivemede Day Care Centre between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Drop in for a time, or come for the whole thing. Refreshments, chat, games and crafts. Everyone Welcome. No Charge, but donations welcome.

Mothers' Union

Women's Ministry

Monthly. Every Third Saturday at for 2 hours

The women at St Peter's meet together monthly to do different activities such as afternoon tea, crafts, walks
