The Diocese of St Albans’ annual Easter Monday Pilgrimage is returning for another year with people from across the Diocese journeying to St Albans Cathedral to celebrate the truth of the risen Christ, and YOU are invited!

Last year a small but determined band of pilgrims headed out on the almost 9-mile walk from St. John’s to our Mother Church, completing the journey in a little over 3 hours. This year, we’re praying our numbers grow as we begin to plan for take two on Monday 6 April 2026.

What can you expect?
🙏 prayer and fellowship with your fellow pilgrims
🍫 snacks, snacks, and more snacks
🥾 walking… lots of walking
🎶 some questionable singing but plenty of enthusiasm

St Johns, Watford

Welcome to St John's Church, Watford. We believe God accepts us all equally, irrespective of race, sexuality, gender, social standing, age, belief or ability and strive to be a community that lives out that belief.

We are a diverse group of people, of different ages, nationalities and social backgrounds. What unites us is a faith in God, his son Jesus Christ and a desire to share that love with those around us through the power of the Holy Spirit, serving our community.

We celebrate the ministry of both women and men, rejoicing that the Church of England ordains people regardless of their gender to be Deacons, Priests and Bishops.

Safeguarding

Our Parish is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the interim PSO, Fr Corniel Quak ([email protected], 07516190985), or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor, Jez Hirst ([email protected], 01727 818 107). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
