St Mary's has become a Food Collection point

St Mary’s Church Braughing, St Mary’s Church Furneux Pelham and St Mary’s Church Stocking Pelham:

Our churches are supporting the work of Bishops Stortford and Buntingford Food Banks and are becoming FOOD BANK COLLECTION POINTS, with St Mary’s Church Furneux Pelham becoming a Food Bank Agency enabling us to help people in need in our community.

There is a huge need for help and support for some in our communities and this has been made worse by the pandemic and alarming rising living costs. According to the Buntingford Foodbank, numbers of those in need have doubled in the last 3 months and Food Bank boxes can be delivered to anyone in any of our villages.

The two churches that are open during the day (Braughing and Furneux Pelham) are now FOOD BANK COLLECTION POINTS with food collection containers situated in both churches.

Leaflets next to the containers are available listing those items needed by the Foodbanks – so why not pick up a leaflet and add some items to your weekly shop and bring them to the church nearest to you?

St Mary’s Furneux Pelham will collect on the first weekend of the month.

St Mary’s Braughing at any time.

The goods will be regularly picked up from the churches and taken to the Foodbank.

Additionally and importantly, anyone in need of help in Braughing, Furneux Pelham or Stocking Pelham can contact us if they need food and support. Please telephone Margaret Leadbetter on 01279 777629.
