Giles Coffee Shop 20th Anniversary

Giles Coffee Shop first opened in November 2006. This autumn we are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of what has become a much loved and valued part of village life. Staffed entirely by local volunteers, it aims to provide a warm, friendly place for people to meet, chat, drink freshly brewed coffee or tea and sample delicious home baked goodies and toasted teacakes.

Every Friday morning, come rain or shine the volunteer team for the week turn up and set up ready for a 9am start. Tablecloths whisk over the PMH tables, flowers are arranged in vases, the toaster is plugged in and the coffee machine coaxed into life, making the space warm and welcoming for those who venture through the doors. Before opening each week, most helpers gather in prayer, asking for God’s blessing on the morning ahead.

There are ‘regulars’ who come in every week, those who drop in from time-to-time and some who just happen to be passing and pop in for a break. Giles Coffee Shop team and patrons who attend regularly try to make sure no one is left sitting alone and that everyone receives a friendly welcome.

If you are a regular at Coffee Shop or haven’t tried the experience yet, do join us on Friday 13th November as we celebrate twenty years of service to our community – there will be free cake!
