Blue Christmas (for those who find Christmas time difficult)

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Peter's
Address
Windsor Street Chertsey Guildford, KT16 8AS, United Kingdom

As the festive season approaches, churches across the UK are preparing for joyful celebrations. But for many, Christmas is not a time of cheer: it can be a season marked by grief, loneliness, or mental health struggles. This Blue Christmas service offers an opportunity to reflect and to acknowledge those feelings and offers support to those who might be struggling.
The Church of England’s theme this year is Joy, but reflecting on joy doesn’t mean ignoring more difficult emotions and experiences. Part of reflecting on the Joy of Christmas is embracing the reality of the sadness and pain that we experience as we wait for that joy.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Chertsey is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Guildford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Ron Howell at [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor . If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
