Our aims

· To reduce the Church’s carbon footprint

· To save on future electricity costs

· To release funds made available by The Church of England

Our vision

Caring for the environment is one of our passions at St Michael’s. When the Church was re-ordered, we included lots of features to reduce energy consumption: underfloor heating; automatic closing doors; energy efficient lighting; computer-operated heating controls.

In recent years we’ve worked hard to make the Churchyard a home for wildlife, protecting biodiversity and encouraging birds, plant-life and insects. Our award “Best Churchyard in Devon 2023” pays tribute to our energy, vision and our values.

By using solar panels, the Church will be able to generate most of our electricity for free. It is estimated we can save 8000kWh each year. Step by step, each action helps to combat global warming and to demonstrate our duty to God as good stewards of the environment. As an added bonus, this could save us £1,963 each year in electricity costs, freeing up God-given resources for use in other areas.

We're encouraging you not only to give, but to be an ambassador for this exciting project. Together, we can all make a difference.
