COMBPYNE.
Set in the ‘coombe’ of Combpyne, St, Mary the Virgin Church
serves the joint parish of Combpyne and Rousdon.
It dates back to the 13th century and is Grade ll* listed. Notable
features include the saddleback tower roof, two of the three bells
among the oldest in Devon and a drawing of a ship – possibly as
old as the 14th century – on one of the walls in the nave.
St Mary’s is the smallest of the eight churches in the Axe Valley Mission Community but is well loved, welcoming and definitely worth a visit! We are open every day.
Apart from special seasonal services, there will usually be two
every month, for full details see Pew News on the Axe Valley Mission Community website
