Dear EFP folk,
Today -
  • Licensing of Barbara Hemsley as a Licensed Lay Minister in Exeter Cathedral 2pm
All are welcome to support Barbara, and the other new LLMs, on this special moment in the life of our parishes.
  • Barbara will be licensed to all the parishes in the Otter Vale Mission Community, but her primary focus will be the EFP parishes.
  • Her ministry will involve leading Sunday worship (in its different guises) and preaching, and pastoral care including pastoral visiting and home Communion.
  • She will be locally ‘welcomed’ into the role at next Sunday's 11am Feniton service on 11th, when she will also preach.
It will be a privilege to have Barbara in the ministry team in this new way.

Local lossIt is with sadness that I share the news that Alan Powell, long-time member of Feniton church, died on Wednesday. He had been recovering in hospital after a fall, but contracted Covid. He was 99. He will be very much missed. Please remember Celia in your prayers and his sister-in-law Brenda and other family.

Thought for the week - law in viewLaw and rules have been in the week’s news in several ways. Manchester City’s breaking of Premier Leagues rules. Offenders’ early release from prison due to overcrowding. The tragic failed execution in Tennessee. St Paul made full use of the legal process available to him as a Roman citizen (those not Roman citizens had rather fewer rights). The latter chapters of Acts, currently being followed in Morning Prayer, bring this out. Good law, and good implementation of it, is important. May we pray for all those today involved in the legal process - judges, magistrates, juries and legal representatives, those who shape our laws, those working in prisons and the probation service, those who need justice, and those who fall the wrong side of the law. May God work for good through it all.
God bless,David
