Dear EFP folk,
Some of you will have been sad following England being knocked out of the FIFA World Cup on Weds evening. Others of you may not care too much! Either way, the usual media incriminations, in particular of England Manager Thomas Tuchel’s tactical decisions, have been impossible to avoid. Positive media coverage of England’s achievements is much harder to find - you would hardly think there was any good news in England managing to reach the Semi-Final, but they did - hallelujah! So yet another leader was placed on a pedestal as a messiah, and strangely they failed because they’re human. Andy Burnham is in the throes of being put on an equivalent political pedestal. May our country somehow learn that politicians (and football managers), as the title of one article puts it, ‘make excellent servants but awful messiahs'.
Tea and Toast ending’Tea and Toast’ has been running on Friday mornings during term-time in Feniton Sports and Social Club for around 10 years. It has been a much valued fixture of the week for young parents and older people. Cara has led this, along with family and other helpers especially Sue, with love, dedication and quiet organisation. But all good things come to end, and the final Tea and Toast will be next Friday 24th. Huge thanks to Cara and the team for all that Tea and Toast has done in service to the community over these years. Thanks go too to the Social Club for hosting it.
