Major refurbishment leads to wall painting discovery

After the church was closed at the end of June, extensive repairs were carried out to the roof, gutters, walls and interior.  As part of the internal redecoration process, tests were carried out which identified four cartouches containing verses of scripture on the walls of the nave dating from the late 16th or early 17th century.  These have been carefully exposed and conserved and with the aid of the newly installed lights are able to be enjoyed by all.

Other work included installing more efficient radiators and audio-visual technology with livestreaming capabilities.
