Holy Communion

Occurring
Monthly. Every Third Sunday at for 1 hour
Venue
Lamerton Parish Church of St Peter
Address
Lamerton Tavistock, PL19 8RL, United Kingdom

Each month we gather in St Peter's Church, Lamerton, for Holy Communion. We pray for the world and our community, sing hymns, listen to bible readings, and commemorate the Eucharist. The service is followed by refreshments in the Priest Room (the beautiful ancient building at the gate to the churchyard).

Everyone welcome: This is a service for all, so please do not worry about children or babies being noisy. They are very welcome. If you want to come but want an extra pair of hands, do just ask. Our volunteers are all DBS checked and undergo regular safeguarding training (many of them volunteer in local schools).

The Communion: The service of Holy Communion is open to all. If you do not normally receive communion you are very welcome to come up for a prayer of blessing. The priest goes to the seats of anyone who cannot come to the altar. If you require gluten free, it would be helpful if either you could let us know in advance or, more simply, just bring a tiny square of your own GF bread in a little bit of foil, so that it can be consecrated alongside the wafers, whilst kept separate. If you have a severe allergy please do let us know so that the full additional precautions can be taken.

Access: The main churchyard entrance has steps, so if you need assistance accessing St Peter's, please do let us know so we can try the alternative route. It is also okay to turn up and we will always help as far as we can.

Sydenham Damerel St Mary's Chapel

The regular services at Sydenham Damerel Church are 10.30am Holy Communion on the 2nd Sunday of each month, and 6.30pm Songs of Praise on the 4th Sunday of each month. All are welcome - you can just turn up. Please feel free to contact Reverend Gill (07947 604160) or Chapel Warden Mike (01822 80752) with any questions you might have about the church.

The South Tamar Mission Community is a group of 4 Church of England parishes with 6 historic church buildings. You can find us in the rolling farmland of the Tamar Valley AONB, broadly between the River Tamar and the River Lyd. We have 2 primary schools in the area, and our schools volunteers also work in another on our borders. All our volunteers have DBS checks and undergo regular safeguarding training. We also have a strong pastoral team who work with people in local residential care settings, and trained Anna Chaplains specialising in spiritual support for the older age range. As well as a strong team of volunteers, we have a full time vicar - Priest-in-Charge, Reverend Gill George. She is supported by our Local Lay Minister, Richard Searight, and a retired priest, Revd Canon Tim Thompson.

Safeguarding

Our Parishes are committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and each parish has an assigned Safeguarding Representative who can be contacted about any issues or concerns regarding safeguarding and the church. Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages also contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises the Parish Safeguarding Representatives. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact Julie Hibbert the lead Safeguarding Representative for the benefice on 01822 618221 or email [email protected]. You can also contact the Safeguarding Representative for each parish. IF YOU ARE AWARE OF AN IMMINENT RISK OF HARM TO AN INDIVIDUAL, PLEASE CONTACT THE POLICE ON 999.
