Come and join us for our special Benefice Communion to celebrate Palm Sunday
Taizé is a small village in eastern France. For 70 years it has been the home of a Christian monastic community made up of brothers from many different countries, speaking many different languages and belonging to several different Christian denominations.
The community has developed a unique style of meditative singing which focuses on the repetitive chanting of short phrases from the Bible and other Christian texts. We will be using some of the Taizé chants and prayers in this 30-minute service.
The service will be followed by tea or coffee and cake.
The Ship will be open, exclusively for us, from 11am with the service starting at 11.15. Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival and the licenced bar will be open throughout for those who would like something stronger.
This informal service will last about half an hour.
Compline is a service of quiet prayer and reflection to end the day. We will gather from 7.30pm for a cup of tea or coffee and a chance to chat before the service starts at 8pm. The service will include Lectio Divina, which is a way of reading the Bible dating back to 300AD, involving listening to the Bible passage and then sitting in silence to mull over and reflect on the words, allowing God to speak to us, as individuals.
Join us as we commemorate the Last Supper with a service of Holy Communion from Common Worship.
Children are welcome at all our services, and this is a particularly family-friendly one. Everyone is welcome at this short, informal service, with Hot Cross Buns for all!
The Benefice's traditional Good Friday service, based around Bible passages and hymns, is a great opportunity to pause and remember the price Jesus paid for our salvation and just how much God loves us.
