About Us
The Parish Church for the large rural village of Marnhull.
The church building itself is Grade 1 listed and of national historical significance.
It started in 1250 with what is now the Hussey Chapel, which also houses the Carent tomb, an alabaster effigy of a knight with his two wives dated 1450.
Over the centuries it expanded to a north aisle, the bell tower and in the Victorian era (1850) a new south aisle and chancel.
It has links with Thomas Hardy as being one of the locations for his novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles.
Today the building is open every day for visitors to enjoy the peace and prayerfulness, as well as the history.
We also have a large churchyard maintained by both the Marnhull Parish Council and church volunteers, allowing for biodiversity as well as a peaceful place of remembrance.
At St. Gregory's we invite everyone to come and share in the love of God: through our welcome, prayer, worship and the Eucharist; through our All Age services and other special services; through fellowship and friendship and through working together to offer pastoral support through the ups and downs of life.
At St Gregory's we seek to show the love of God through welcome, worship and witness.
