Family History and Register Search Enquiries

We sometimes hear from people searching for ancestors who may have been baptised, married or buried at St Matthew's, or requiring a search of the registers to find a specific entry.

It's important to note that some records are now held in the Bradford Archives, so we may be unable to help you. 

The Church of England specifies fees for searches of church registers, at £37 for the first hour, and an additional £37 for each subsequent hour or part of an hour (correct as of 2025, reviewed each year). These fees relate to a particular search where the approximate date is known, and for burials and baptisms include one copy of the entry, if found. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate requests for a general search of the registers.
