In 1968, John Pensom of The Children’s Society introduced the Christingle tradition to the Church of England in this country. A Christingle is made by decorating an orange with a red ribbon, dried fruits, sweets, and a candle. Each part is a symbol of the Christian faith, representing Christ as the Light of the World.
During this family service, children will have the opportunity to make their own Christingles. We will light them together and sing as we celebrate the coming of God in Jesus. All are warmly invited to stay for refreshments after the service.
