Lest We Forget

Sunday 9 November was Remembrance Sunday. At the East End of the Benefice, we have a joint Service of Remembrance, where people come together from Britford, Bodenham, Charlton, Nunton & Odstock, to remember those who died in the World Wars.

This year, Odstock's St Mary's Church was packed with 102 villagers. The Church was beautifully decorated with poppies made by the Creativitea Crew, that meets every third Thursday of the month at The Barker Room. They must have been knitting and crocheting for months - there were hundreds of poppies covering every ledge of the Church, and woven into a camouflage net.

The service was led by the Revd Maggie Metcalfe. The names of the fallen were read out for each of the villages, and tributes were laid at the altar.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.
