HMS Fittleton Memorial

In September 1976, a Royal Navy Minesweeper named after our village sank on exercise in the North Sea. 12 sailors tragically lost their lives in the incident. More details of what occurred can be found here https://tcaminesweepers.co.uk/about/fittleton-memorial/

With the help of many generous donors, we have raised enough money to erect a permanent memorial on the wall of our church to the men who died. We will be unveiling it a a special service on 17th September 2023 at 2 pm. The Bishop of Salisbury will preside. If you would like to attend the service it would help the organisers with logistics if you could email [email protected]. The service is not going to be ticketed. It will just help us to know rough numbers as there will also be tea and cake at the Phoenix Hall in Netheravon afterwards.
