Responding to Safeguarding Concerns

IMPORTANT – WE MUST RESPOND TO DISCLOSURES OF ABUSE – HERE IS HOW:

If you, or anyone you know in our parishes, is a victim or survivor of abuse related to anyone connected to our churches, even if it was forty years ago or longer, then you or they should contact the Diocese of Salisbury Safeguarding Team directly. By email: [email protected] or by phone:01722 438651 and press option 2.

If out of hours (5pm Friday to 10pm Sunday), contact thirtyone:eight on 0303 0031111. If someone is at immediate risk of harm, please call 999 in an emergency.

No one in our parishes must ever feel that abuse has been ‘hushed up’ or that they will not be believed, or that they will be blamed and shamed and left even more isolated. Disclosing abuse takes enormous courage. Often people feel safer with anonymity, but Diocesan Safeguarding staff and the police cannot act to get justice without people coming forward to them.
