Little Venice Visit led by Fiona Everett We shall enjoy a waterside stroll along the picturesque Grand Union Canal and Fiona will point out features of interest in this fascinating area. We will walk to St Mary Magdalene’s, a grade 1 listed Gothic Revival church considered to be George Edmund Street’s masterpiece. Fiona will explain the historical and religious importance of this church built in 1865 in what was then a deprived area of London. Fr Henry will explain the “Grand Junction” development project which he led for 15 years. Fiona will provide a guided tour inside this church where we shall see a highly decorated interior and the restored St Sepulchre chapel in the undercroft. We will conclude with a visit to the church café, developed as part of the project. It will be a lovely interesting afternoon, not too much walking, opportunity to sit down and excellent fellowship. If you are interested, please see Beverley Braybrooke. Places are limited! Date : Wednesday 10th September Start Time: 1.30 p.m. Meeting Point: War Memorial on Platform 1, Paddington Station Cost : £20 donation per person. All proceeds towards St George’s.
