A weekend community event to both celebrate and commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2 is being held in the grounds of St Margaret's Church, Dunham Road, Altrincham on Saturday the 9th and Sunday 10th August.

Starting at 12.30 on Saturday 9th there will be a distinct 1940's theme with music throughout the day with a 17 piece swing band, The Hootin Annies Big Band plus Krys Kiss and the Frog providing music, a Dunham Massey Beer tent, WW2 vehicles, fish and chips, NAFFI, tea and cake and we will be joined by Winston Churchill himself! Just as the bells rang out at the end of World War 2 so people can have a go ringing the famous church bells. The Mayor of Trafford will also be on hand to open the event. All are welcome to enjoy the fun, tickets on the gate are £5 to cover costs, under 12's and cadets in uniform are free.

On Sunday at 11am, the church is holding a reflective service to commemorate the great sacrifices of all those lost and injured in WW2. What will prove to be a moving service, music will be provided by the soprano Lisa Harrison and tenor Michael Taylor alongside the renowned Laurence Singers and Terry Crolley MBE on the organ. We will be joined by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Manchester and Mayor of Trafford. Entrance Free.

All welcome.
